Frequently Asked

What information do I need to get my car towed?

We will require the pickup location, destination address, type of vehicle, your contact information, and a form of payment.

Is having my insured car towed to the tow yard after an accident a good idea?

There are several reasons why you might consider having your car towed to the yard after an accident.

  • You do not have to pay the tow bill (insurance policy should cover).
  • The insurance adjuster will inspect your car and other cars involved sooner to avoid storage fees.
  • You can avoid the eyesore of an ugly wreck at your house or reminders of your unfortunate incident.
How can I find out where my vehicle is being stored if my vehicle was taken to a storage facility without my consent?

If your vehicle was towed from a private parking lot, you can call the telephone number listed on the tow-away signs located within the parking lot in order to locate your vehicle. Vehicle storage facilities are required to report non-consent tows to local law enforcement after receiving the vehicle. You may want to contact the local law enforcement agency within the vicinity of where your vehicle was towed.

What documentation do I need to take with me to the storage facility so my car can be released?

A valid photo identification issued by the state or federal government (usually a driver’s license) in addition you will also need one of the following:

  • Valid Insurance Policy for the Vehicle (Proof of financial responsibility (insurance card), as required by Transportation Code §601.051, such as an additional form of identification that establishes ownership or right of possession or control of the vehicle).
  • Current Registration
  • If you are not the registered owner or have proof of ownership you will need a TDLR-Form (VSF011) Removal or Inspection of a Motor Vehicle at a VSF. Click on Link.   https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/towing/forms/VSF011.pdf

(Please note that TDLR-Form VSF011 requires the form to be notarized).

  • Notarized power-of-attorney (Documents notarized out of state are valid and must be accepted by storage facilities for release of vehicles, even if the form or format of the notarization is different from the one designed for use by Texas notaries)
  • Court order
  • Certificate of title (The VSF must accept a vehicle title as an instrument of release, even if the person presenting the title is not the name on the front or back of the title)
  • Tax collector’s receipt with vehicle registration renewal card accompanied by a conforming identification
  • Name and address information corresponding to that contained in the files of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Current automobile lease or rental agreement executed by the operator of the vehicle or a person holding a power of attorney executed by the person named in the lease agreement
  • Appropriate identification of any state or federal law enforcement agency representative

Most recent version of a department-approved form or electronic version of a department-approved form published on the department’s website, www.tdlr.texas.gov; which the VSF must make available to the vehicle owner or person seeking possession of or access to the vehicle

What forms of payment are accepted?
  • All major debit or credit cards (except American Express) there is a $2.50 processing fee for all debit or credit card transactions.
  • Cash
